16^th International Exhibition
Information Communication Technology 2008 

From 12 to 14 November at the International Exhibition Center (Ukraine, Kyiv, Brovarskyi Pr, 15) there was held XVI International Exhibition «Information Communication Technology 2008» organized by Premier Expo (Ukraine), ITE Group Plc (Great Britain).

The exhibition traditionally gathers key market players, government agencies and departments. However, it is for the first time in 16 year's history of the exhibition that it is held amid the spread of global financial crisis, that has affected Ukraine as well. This has affected the quantity of visitors and the structure of the current event.

However, I noted that the most regular of the exhibitors, including market leaders, understanding the importance of exhibitions for their own business, still take part in such events as Information and Communications 2008 and related exhibitions — Corporate and Bank Systems Exhibition 2008 and Cardex & IT-Security 2008.

13^th International Corporate and Banking System Exhibition was dedicated to the developing, implementation and use of IT (technologies) in banks, financial institutions, public enterprises and corporations.

The exhibition «Intelligent cards and the security of information technology» has been running the latest solutions in the field of plastic cards, as well as the latest technologies of information protection for already four years.

Lots of the visitors will remember this exhibition promoting new card technology solutions and new technologies of payments acceptance.

Among the numerous participants stands of «Business Life», «MTС», «Rode & Schwarz», «People Telecom», «Plastic Card Company», «1C-Bitrix», «Autor», «Eurocell», «SELCOM», «Kardteh»,«Plant Yuzhcabel»,«Romsat»,«Rontek», «Dolya and Co», «CSTel», united stand of companies of the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine were particularly noticeable.

The stand of «Plastic Card Company» — a company providing full range of services for the production and personalization of plastic cards deserves special attention. The company has demonstrated high technologies for the cards production. It is the first company that received permission of the National Bank of Ukraine on the production of smart-card system of mass electronic payments (NSMEP). The company has already produced about 1.5 million NSMEP cards.

The company «Avtor» presented on the stand fully functional model of its own operating system for mobile and Internet payments «PlatyMO!». This system is the first mass introduction of solutions based on the national system of mobile electronic payments into retail business. The system allows the use of credit cards NSMEP of two types — contact and swipe (non-contact). Presenters at the stand used them to pay for goods and services through payment terminals and the Internet. It was made by using mobile phones Nokia 6212, equipped with an NFC and SIM-card «PlatyMO!». The opportunity of payment is possible because the SIM card contains the «electronic purse». Service charges (non-cash charges, recharge cards NSMEP) is made kiosks self «TiKon» ETC, WinCor Nixdorf.

Eastern European Conference of Telecommunications and Information Technology — EETC 2008, held on November 12, and IV International Conference «Smart cards, payment systems, technology and equipment» became significant events within the exhibition.

The conferences were held under the support of the Ministry of Industrial Policy, the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Association Wireless Ukraine, the Association of Information Technology of Ukraine, the Department of Informatization of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Both conferences gave top managers the opportunity to discuss topical questions and perspectives of sector development and put a number of questions to the representatives of public authorities.

The high status of conferences was underlined by the fact that the speakers invited represented the decision makers of companies — key market players and state authorities.
